"A gift of love and a caring thought for those who need it most."
Having completed her Girl Scout Silver Award Project with Chemo Bags, Grace is now working on her Gold Award Project with Port Pillows. Staying in the same vein as the well-received Chemo Bags, the Port Pillow is a caring and comforting accessory to cancer patients in recovery.
Our annual mother and daughter events for the Chemo Bags brings us together as one unit that sorts and assembles each of the items into goodie bags in a quantity that matches the needs of the community. Then once a month, we deliver 12 bags (typically) to Dr Cogburn and the staff at Florida Cancer Specialists.
Now we have developed a simple process along with an explanatory video to empower anyone interested in making Port Pillows, to do so. It's not just a lovely little gift to make but it shows the survivor that we recognize and feel their pain in recovery. And through this gift perhaps we can ease it just a little.
If you have time to help in our event or perhaps something to donate (in quantity) that you feel might have a place in our care bag, please let us know.
Email Grace at firstname.lastname@example.org with your thoughts along with some contact information and she will get right back to you!
